Time to get a little sexy, BUT don’t worry, we’ll filter it through the white lab coat of science. Just recently an FDA advisory committee voted 18-6 to recommend that the agency approve the drug Flibanserin – which is being called Viagra for women. Sex drugs are big business -- for men. The FDA approved Viagra in 1998, and last year, the drug earned more than $1.6 billion for Pfizer.

But prior to the announcement, ladies were the forgotten sex when it comes to sexual dysfunction and lack of sexual interest. Now science may have some answers about what causes the conditions. Ironically, as women remind their men they need romance and an approach that touches their hearts, it turns out the heart may hold the key.

Researchers analyzed a test group of women for their heart rate variability (HRV), which is the variation in the time between heartbeats.

They discovered that women with below-average heart rate variability were more likely to experience both sexual dysfunction and low sexual arousal.

Wow! Does that mean if he doesn’t make your heart skip a beat literally and figuratively there’s no chance for romance? Stay tuned for more studies. (UPI)
