Mixed Martial Arts star Ronda Rousey could easily clean your clock but can she turn back the clock and score a hit with a remake of an iconic movie? The UFC champ is slated to star in a remake of Patrick Swayze's 1989 film, Road House. She broke the news on Twitter on Wednesday (September 9th) writing, "It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many. I couldn't be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze...I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute his family and friends can be proud of."

The original film starred Swayze as a bouncer hired to clean up one of the rowdiest, loudest bars in Missouri and is ultimately put to the test when he needs to protect the town from a corrupt businessman.

The movie became a hit and still has cult status today. Patrick Swayze died from cancer in 2009 at the age of 57. Sources say Rousey recently reached out to Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi, to ask for her blessing, which Niemi gladly gave.

Rousey has already had a busy year at the cinema, appearing in “Furious 7” and the “Entourage” movie after a cameo in last year’s “The Expendables 3.” (Variety)
