Wapato’s Sukiyaki Extravaganza: 61st Annual Dinner Promises Delicious Delights and Cultural Celebration

The Yakima Valley has had a long rich history of people coming to the area to build a life and dreams. From the late 1800's working in agriculture many people came to the Wapato area which is Wapato quickly became the hub of the Japanese community in Washington state, second only to Seattle. That is just a little part of the history and culture of the Japanese community and every year since 1963. The community come together for food and fellowship.

This Sunday, Wapato will busy with the rich celebration the local Japanese heritage, history and culture. It is the 61st Annual Sukiyaki Dinner at the Yakima Buddhist Church from 11am - 3pm. This community event bring families and friends together.

Enjoy fresh-cooked sukiyaki and the a Taiko drum performance by the School of Taiko at 1pm. Your choice of beef or vegetarian sukiyaki. Proceeds from this fundraiser goes to support the Yakima Buddhist Church facilities.

Pre-sale tickets are available on Eventbrite or in person at Dunbar Jewelers and Yakima Valley Museum. Tickets also available at the door. All in-person purchase options are cash-only.  $25.00 per person. Limited indoor seating. Take out options available
