Constructing the third and final roundabout on the I-82 Valley Mall Boulevard interchange project requires the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and Apollo Inc. to close the Yakima Greenway’s Spring Creek access at the east end of Valley Mall Boulevard from July 25 to August 15.

A major milestone for the I-82 Valley Mall Boulevard interchange project is constructing new on- and off-ramps to serve westbound I-82 to Valley Mall Boulevard and a new single-lane roundabout, for easier access to and from the new Greenway parking lot.

All of the businesses along the project are open. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and Apollo Inc. are working hard to maintain access to those businesses while doing what is necessary to stay on schedule and on budget for this $34.3 million project.

The future long-term project benefits of reducing collisions and improving traffic flow through intersections, and to and from Interstate 82 will seem well worth the current short-term inconveniences to drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and businesses. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid September, 2011.
