Walking around State Fair Park this week, it was amazing to see the myriad food choices and diversity of the offerings. It reminded me that a couple of my favorites are gone, but not forgotten.

After having successful bariatric surgery in 2013, my favorite part of the Central Washington State Fair -- the food -- just isn't the same anymore. Oh, I can have a bite here and there, but I just can't eat a large portion of much anymore.

That doesn't keep me from appreciating the wide variety of fair foods that are available this year.

The fair also offers food for the soul as well.

Two of my all-time food favorites from the fair can't be found anymore.

One was the "Beerrock." It was a delicious pastry filled with meat and vegetables. The only thing that even comes close to it is a Cornish pasty from the U.K. -- this picture gives you the idea.

The other was the "Crab Roll" that Tina Cavellini of the famous Cle Elum Cavalleni restaurant family brought to the fair every year. It was a delicious soft roll filled to bursting with a delicious crab salad, sort of like this lobster roll.

Every year, many new foods are introduced at the Central Washington State Fair, but these are two of my favorites that are gone, but not forgotten.

What are some of your favorites that no longer appear at the fair?
