Recall Petition Filed Naming Council Member Jason White

The Yakima County Auditors office says former city council candidate and attorney Elizabeth Hallock has filed a recall petition naming Yakima City Council member Jason White. In the complaint filed with the Yakima County Elections Office Hallock says White interfered with State, City, emergency management, public health, and hospital officials in their efforts to protect the public during a worldwide pandemic by telling people to not wear masks and go back to work. Hallock also says that advice went against the directive of the Yakima City Mayor. Hallock says that constitutes among other things a violation of oath of office.
Per election statute, the county auditors office has  forwarded the charges to the County Prosecuting Attorney for the formulation of a ballot synopsis.
Ultimately a judge will make the final decision in the recall petition.
