Police Emphasis Patrols Target Gang Members

Gang activity. Police in Yakima know they'll have to deal with a lot of it this summer just like they did last year. But Lt. Mike Merryman says they're prepared with a number of gang emphasis patrols. Merryman says the city included the patrols in it's budget this year knowing how effective the patrols are in combating gang violence.

Merryman says when the emphasis patrols are underway local crime drops 40 to 50 percent when compared to the previous year.
