
Major Crash on North 2nd Street Leads to DUI Arrest
Yakima Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash reported last Thursday in the 1100 block of North 2nd Street. According to a news release, officers arrived at the scene to find a head-on collision involving a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 1996 GMC Sierra.
A 3-YEAR-OLD CHILD WAS INVOLVED IN THE CRASH
Police say the Tahoe was driven by a 22-year-old woman from Yakima and a 20-year-old male passenger. Authorities say the man was holding an "improperly" secured 3-year-old child at the time of the crash but the child was not seriously injured.
However all three people were transported to MultiCare Memorial Hospital. The driver and the child were treated and released with no major injuries, while the male passenger suffered a concussion and a broken arm.

POLICE MADE AN ARREST
The GMC Sierra was driven by a 48-year-old man from Yakima who showed signs of impairment. He was arrested on charges of Felony DUI and Vehicular Assault. Criminal charges are also being filed against the child's guardian for reckless endangerment.
