You’re right if you think there are more people around here when compared to a decade ago. Yakima County’s population has increased 9.3 percent over the past decade. That’s an additional 20,650 people. The county’s latest population is just over 243,000. The U.S. Census says City of Yakima shot up nearly 27-percent over the past decade. The city added 19,200 to have a current population of just over 91,000.

The state’s population added 14-percent since 2000. That’s an additional 830,000 people. The state’s Hispanic population is up more than 70%. Franklin and Adams counties have a majority of Hispanic residents. Washington’s Asian-American population grew almost 50%.
