While you enjoyed a long Labor Day weekend firefighters were busy trying to contain the Schneider Springs Fire. The fire is now at 14% containment. On Friday containment was at 10%.

THE WEATHER IS A BIG FACTOR IN THE FIREFIGHT TUESDAY

Officials with the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest say the fire grew 85,639 acres on Friday to 94,206 acres Today. Yesterday firefighters had to deal with above average temperatures. Crews worked to improve a containment line to secure the northeastern fire edge. The weather is a big factor in fighting the fire Tuesday say fire officials. They expect the fire to spread and make short runs through heavy pockets of timber.

MORE RESOURCES ON THE WAY AND DRONES ARE NOW WORKING

Firefighters are adding additional resources to help monitor activity along the Bumping River Road and northwestern edges of the fire. Drones are being used to monitor and conduct firing operations to direct the fire away from areas of concern, including the Haystack Rock and Little Rattlesnake areas. Crews continue to mop-up and patrol along the southern perimeter of the fire to increase containment as firefighters battle the fire along with unseasonably hot and dry conditions.

NEARLY 800 PEOPLE AND RESOURCES ARE WORKING THE BLAZE

793 people and resources are working the fire with 18 hand crews, 37 engines, 7 dozers, 9 aircraft and 28 other pieces of heavy equipment. The number of people on the fire changes every week as state officials shift resources to other fires in the state.

NO CHANGE IN EVACUATION LEVELS AND SO FAR NO HOMES LOST NO INJURIES

Evacuation levels changed on Tuesday.
Officials at Yakima Valley Emergency Management say Bumping River Road area has now been increased to LEVEL 3 GO NOW.
From the intersection of Highway 410 and Highway 12 (the "Y") to Bumping RIver Road the evacuation level is now at LEVEL 1. Firefighters say
the evacuation levels pertain to private property owners only, not forest lands use activities or locations.

While firefighters are hoping the fire will be doused sooner than later they are pushing for an October 1 goal of fully containing the fire on that day.
