Is Your Salmon Steak On Prozac?

Here in the Northwest we love our Salmon.  This weekend in fact!  BUT, according to a report in the Seattle times, salmon caught in the area might contain cocaine, antidepressants, antibiotics and nicotine and at some of the highest levels reported in the country.

Environmental experts blame it on tainted waste water discharge which tests show include up to 80 drugs and personal care products!  The times article says “The findings are of concern because most of the chemicals detected are not monitored or regulated in wastewater, and there is little or no established science on the environmental toxicity for the vast majority of the compounds detected.”

Scientists say  unless you're eating an excessive amount, they don't think the fish will have a negative effect to anyone's health.
