It's a lot of number crunching that many don't understand but your chance to help the city make some big decisions in the near future comes Monday night.

SOME BIG DECISIONS WILL BE MADE SO HERE'S YOUR CHANCE

If you live in Yakima City Council Districts 6 and 7 you are being urged to bring your questions and concerns about the future of the city of Yakima to a special forum Monday night. A series of forums in council districts get underway this week. Yakima City Manager Vicki Baker knows residents are concerned and she's ready for questions and comments about the 2026 budget when the city is expected to face a $9 million shortfall.

THE FIRST CITY FORUM STARTS MONDAY NIGHT

Baker is holding the first forum tonight for Yakima City Council District 6 and 7. That event is set for 6:30 pm at the Yakima Harman Senior Center at 101 N 65th Ave.
The second Town Hall for Districts 1 and 2 will be held 6:30 pm, Thursday, April 10 at the Yakima Convention Center in Room G at 10 N 8th Street.
The last Town Hall for Districts 3, 4 and 5 will be held April 16 at 6:30 pm at Davis High School, 212 S 6th Avenue.

IF YOU COULD VOTE ON THE ISSUE WOULD YOU BE IN FAVOR OR MORE TAXES OR A CUT IN SERVICES?

Baker and city council members have a tough road ahead and need to make some important moves with a predicted $9 million shortfall in 2026. Baker says "the City is facing some very difficult budget challenges and the City Council needs help from the community to make tough decisions."
Something will happen because by law the city must have a balanced budget.
