An energy grant of more than $800,000 will go toward energy improvements being installed right now.

The energy improvements  include new windows, lighting and H-VAC at a half dozen city buildings.  These include Yakima City Hall, a couple of fire stations and the Southeast Community Center.

The City of Yakima expects the updates to save over  thousands of dollars each year.  Most of the items replaced were more than 30 years old and due to be replaced anyway.
