COVID-19 Impacting Sunnyside Jail and Police Department

COVID-19 is impacting the city of Sunnyside and its jail. Yakima Health District officials say an inmate in the Sunnyside City jail and three members of the Sunnyside Police Department have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The three staff members of the department are now quarantined.
Safety measures have been in place since March when the virus was identified.
Inmates have been screened and hand washing has been encouraged.

A news release says "an investigation was conducted to identify all close contacts to the individual, including staff and additional testing was conducted. Results from the testing will be available in the next few days."
