Take Your Child To The Library Day For Fun on Saturday in Yakima
A fun time at your local library is planned for Saturday in the Yakima Valley. Saturday is Take Your Child to the Library Day. The day is celebrated around the world. Yakima Valley Libraries have plans for kids activities in libraries all over the county.
LOTS OF FUN AT LIBRARIES ALL AROUND THE VALLEY
A press release says activities for kids happen between 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at Moxee, Selah, Sunnyside, Terrace Heights, and Wapato Libraries. Other libraries in Naches, West Valley, and Yakima Central Libraries will host activities from 12:00 pm-4:00 pm.
THE DAY IS PART OF AN INTERNATIONAL CELEBRATION OF LIBRARIES
Take Your Child to the Library Day was started in 2011 at the Waterford Public Library in Connecticut but it's grown to a worldwide event. It's a chance to libraries to highlight free resources available to families.
“YVL’s Take Your Child to the Library Day activities will be a great opportunity for families to discover, or re-discover, their community library as a place for kids of all ages to learn, grow, and connect,” says Krystal Corbray, programming librarian. “Most of the crafts and activities are self-paced and self-directed, so kids and their grown-ups can drop in any time to join the fun.”
