If you live in Yakima City Council District 5 you're encouraged to grab your work gloves and help clean up the neighborhood on Saturday, April 21st during an Earth Day Community Cleanup event.
Households located from North 16th Avenue to North 35th Avenue/Powerhouse Road and River Road to Lincoln Avenue are eligible to participate in the free cleanup. Residents in those areas can bring their items to a temporary disposal site located at the City of Yakima’s Public Works parking lot, 2301 Fruitvale Boulevard.

“This is a great opportunity for residents in those neighborhoods to band together,” said Mayor Kathy Coffey, who holds the City Council’s 5th District seat. “And best of all this clean-up effort is at no charge to residents.”

No commercial waste, construction or demolition debris, concrete, or hazardous waste will be accepted at the temporary disposal site.
Each household will be limited to no more than four tires (passenger car and small truck tires only). No household hazardous waste will be accepted during the cleanup event. However, the Terrace Heights landfill does have an ongoing program through which it accepts household hazardous waste for free.
