Even if you can't be at a beach resort, "a tropical drink melting in your hand" as the Beach Boys would say, can take you on a mental exotic vacation.

Today is one of those made up holidays that is a lot of fun, Piña Colada Day. If you're anyplace that has a beach front or poolside bar, a piña colada is probably on your radar. This drink is in the big three of blended frozen drinks along with the margarita and daquiri.

Here's how Wikipedia describes the piña colada:

The piña colada (Spanish: piña, pineapple + colada, strained) is a sweet, rum-based cocktail made with rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice, usually served either blended or shaken with ice. It may be garnished with a pineapple wedge, a maraschino cherry or both. The piña colada has been the official beverage of Puerto Rico since 1978.[1]

So, on this hot July day, take a mental vacation with a little help from a piña colada.
