A 35-year-old man is facing a murder charge years after a drive-by shooting reported in 2024.

CHARGES OF SECOND DEGREE MURDER AMONG OTHERS

A news release from the Yakima Police Department says on March 20 the Yakima County Prosecutor's Office filed charges of 2nd degree, drive-by shooting, and unlawful possession of a firearm in the 2nd degree against the suspect who is being held in the Yakima County jail. Authorities say the shooting happened on November 8 of 2024 in the 400 block of Erickson Lane.

A CALL ABOUT SHOTS FIRED

Officers were called to the area for a report of shots fired. When they arrived they found the 32-year-old victim with gunshot wounds. He died at the scene. Police haven't released the identity of the suspect or the victim.
The investigation is being led by the Yakima Police Major Crimes Unit. A BUSY DAY NOVEMBER OF 2024

November 8 of 2024 was a violent day in the city of Yakima. Not only did police investigate the murder of the 32-year-old man but they also had to deal with a violent fatal shooting at a local Safeway.
On the evening of November 8 of 2024 Officers were called to the parking lot of the Safeway store 2200 block of Nob Hill Blvd. at about 6:40 pm Friday where they found two people who had been shot multiple times. A 19-year-old died at the scene of the shooting and 20-year-old man was taken to Yakima Memorial Multicare hospital where he died. Two suspects were arrested and charged in Yakima County Superior Court.
