The Annual Sukiyaki Dinner in Wapato Returns

The Yakima Buddhist Church is excited to welcome us to their annual foodie event, the Sukiyaki Dinner. This event, which began in Wapato in 1963, features a plate of comfort food and special elements from the Japanese culture that the entire Yakima Valley community can enjoy.

What to Expect at the Sukiyaki Dinner

Your ticket includes a scrumptious sukiyaki dinner: a Japanese hot pot dish with oodles of noodles, meat, steamed and sauteed vegetables, and a sweet, yet savory sauce. It's incredible; I've been to this event a few times and each time the food tastes even better than the last time!

One of the performances will include the traditional taiko drums, whose cultural and religious significance in Japan dates back to the 6th century.

The Sukiyaki Dinner will also have a display of Japanese antiques and a bonsai tree exhibit.

"Enjoy our freshly prepared sukiyaki (slowly simmered thinly sliced prime rib beef with vegetables and glass noodles cooked in a sweet and savory broth) inside the Kaikan or outside with live music, entertainment and activities. Bring the whole family!" - Yakima Buddhist Church
