Where to Buy Your Local Beef & Eggs Right Here in the Yakima Valley [LIST]
A rising topic of conversation I'm hearing in the Yakima Valley is where we can buy meat from local ranchers and butchers. No doubt, people are talking about it because of the recent news that America is getting an influx of foreign-raised beef in order to bring the prices down at the grocery store.
Try these local Valley places for farm eggs and meat straight from butchers and ranchers.
- Ray's Retail Meats (Union Gap)
- Knutzen Meats (Pasco)
- Holy Cow Grass Fed Beef (Wapato)
- Sunnyside Meat Packers (Sunnyside)
- Whispering Wires Ranch Custom Butchery (Sunnyside)
- Snyder's German Sausage Haus (Yakima)
- Amador Farms (Yakima)

Making Things from Scratch Makes Me Feel Like Little House on the Prairie
Because of the abundance of food recalls we've been having lately (AHEM, LETTUCE!), some locals including myself are resorting to find ways to grow our own foods and bring back making some staples from scratch.
No lie, I learned how to make my own butter! Using fresh garden herbs in homemade butter is my favorite to make. I also have tried my hand at making some homemade focaccia bread, which is something I never thought I'd want to do.
It almost makes me feel like I've been time warped to Little House on the Prairie, but with a Kitchen Aid mixer, ha!

It took a few tries before it finally stopped tasting like unscented PlayDoh, but I finally got it perfected.

What stuff have you found yourself making from scratch lately, and is it because of these food recalls? Let me know and share a pic of your food!
