Volunteer firefighters are the best.  When they aren’t racing to our rescue they find ways to serve away from the flames and smoke.

From a press release to KIT News:

The Zillah Volunteer Firefighters would like to invite the public to a spaghetti dinner and silent auction to benefit the family of Volunteer Firefighter Dora Gunnoe.

Dora's family was involved in a tragic accident in Zillah and their family of firefighters would like to help raise funds for their family. Dora has selflessly served her community as a firefighter for Wapato and Zillah for eleven years, and we'd like to return the blessing by helping their family during this difficult time.

The spaghetti feed is 6-8 pm at the Zillah Civic Center, 119 First Ave in Zillah on Thursday January 25.

If you're unable to make it, you can still donate to the cause. Donations are being accepted at Yakima County Fire District 5's admin office in Zillah until January 24th. You can also donate online at https://www.gofundme.com/emergency-funds-for-gunnoe-family.

That how they do it small town America.  Good people looking out for one another.  Try and help if you can!
