Nobody does hops like the Yakima Valley!  We grow the most and the best and it’s a big dollar business!  New research shows that in addition to the economic impacts, Yakima Valley Hops may have a positive medical impact too!

CBS News reports on a German study that found the hops in your beer is doing a lot more than making a tall cold one taste good --the hops may also be lessening the damaging effects of alcohol on the liver.

The German study of mice and alcohol found that the lab animals had less buildup of fat in their livers with beer than mice that were given  plain alcohol.

The study could also explain why drinking hard liquor is more strongly associated with death from liver disease.

For those of you who may not be beer-literate, hops is the flower of the hops plant, Humulus lupulus and are a main ingredient in beer used to add flavor and act as a preservative.
