The Yakima Valley's only full-contact women's roller derby team will the beneficiary of a charity night at Yakima's premiere haunted attraction on Thursday.

Part of the proceeds of Thursday night's "Terror on the Ave" performance will go to the Crushers in their mission "to build a strong community and promote other like minded non-profits through the sport of roller derby."

Cassie Gordon, owner of Yakima's Tom Tom Espresso and Crushers president, told us what the team would be doing at "Terror on the Ave".

 

“We’ll be there scaring people. We’ll have our merchandise table there and telling people about how they can join. We’ll be rollin' around Terror On The Ave tonight.”

 

A non-profit organization, the Wine Country Crushers are active in the community in a variety of ways that according to their mission statement, "provides a professional environment for women of all backgrounds and skill levels to train, compete, and participate in a full contact sport while fostering sportsmanship, athleticism and confidence." The statement also says the Crushers wish "to further promote the empowerment of women."

"Terror on the Ave" is located at 411 West Yakima Avenue, and is open Thursday's from 7:00 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Admission is $10.
