Union Gap’s Old Town Days Brings History to Life This Weekend
UNION GAP — A wagonload of history and family activities rolls into town this weekend (June 17-18) as Union Gap celebrates Old Town Days.
The state’s largest Civil War re-enactment highlights the free annual festival, which begins with Saturday’s 11 a.m. Grand Opening Procession to the main battlefield in Fullbright Park, 4508 Main St. In recognition of Father’s Day weekend, participants are invited to walk with their fathers — and the grand marshal will be this year’s Dad of the Year.
In all, five re-enactment battles are planned. Other attractions include living history camps portraying Civil War-era life, trading posts, food vendors, kids’ train rides, children’s games and a working blacksmith shop.
Be sure to watch for Abraham Lincoln, who also plans to make an appearance or two!
