Tattoo Popularity Growing – CDC Urges Medical Caution
If you don’t have a tattoo it might seem like you are in the minority but in truth you are not. New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows 21-percent of American adults have at least one permanent tattoo. Still the number is sizeable and growing and if you are in a deep think about ink, you need to know this.
The CDC reports there were 22 cases of tattoo-associated mycobacterial skin infections over the past year, due to contaminated ink used by the tattoo artists.
The CDC says this can be caused by contaminated ingredients in the manufacturing process or --more likely-- by tattoo artists who dilute the ink with non-sterile water.
The bottom line is that if you want lines on your bottom or elsewhere, make sure you go to a reputable artist with a good reputation.
