Selah Mayor John Gawlik took the first step toward firing police chief Stacy Dwarshuis. Gawlik issued a pre-termination notice Thursday. This sets a hearing for the chief to come before city leaders to defend himself and keep his job. Selah City Attorney Bob Noe tells our news partner KIMA Action News the pre-termination notice comes in light of charges against Dwarshuis and concerns the mayor has about the police chief. Noe wouldn't go into detail about the charges. Dwarshuis has been placed on paid administrative leave until the hearing later this month. Noe confirmed that city supervisor Frank Sweet is still on the job.
