Selah City Council met behind closed doors Tuesday night to discuss severance packages for Police Chief Stacy Dwarshuis and City Supervisor Frank Sweet.

Dwarshuis got what was originally proposed. Six months of salary and benefits equaling about $40,000. He plans to stay on administrative leave until the end of July and then retire.

Sweet did not get the originally proposed almost half a million dollar severance deal. Instead he received twelve months of pay and benefits totaling about $134,000.

Council felt these were both fair given the amount of time both men served in Selah.
