The 2016 Summer Olympic Games get underway this Friday and sadly the focus will be as much on disease (Zika) poor and dangerous sanitation, safety and crime as it will be the balance, strength and endurance of the athletes.  We need a better preamble.

So remember this – on this day,  August 2, 2012,  American gymnast Gabby Douglas won gold in the women's gymnastics all-around competition at the London games, becoming the first African-American to do so. and third straight U.S. women to win the Olympic all-around, after Nastia Lukin in 2008 and Carly Patterson in 2004.

Best of luck to all the World's finest...except Russia, you cheaters need to stay home!

USA! USA! USA!
