Ok, not so new but maybe some of these ideas can help you in your quest to slim down in 2016.

Reader's Digest discovered five ways to lose weight while you sleep!

1. Fit protein in before bed. Researchers at Florida State University discovered that men who had a shake with 30 grams of protein before hitting the sack burned more calories at night than those who ate nothing.
2. Sleep in complete darkness. Your body produces melatonin --which can aid in the production of calorie-burning brown fat --only in the black of night. Turn off glowing clocks, the TV and consider blackout curtains or shades.
3. Turn down the thermostat. You could burn an extra 100 calories over three nights just by sleeping in a 66-degree room!
4. Shut off all screens. Short-wavelength blue light that's emitted from tablets and smartphones disrupts the body's production of melatonin and possibly your metabolism!
5. Give yourself a bedtime. Sleeping between seven and eight hours per-night will help you burn more calories throughout the day --even if you're inactive. Meanwhile, other research shows that lack of sleep makes fat cells less sensitive to insulin and is linked to a metabolic change to obesity.
