Time to get pumped up: The Insane Inflatable 5K is headed to the Tri-Cities on May 16, and signups are underway now.
What are Insane Inflatables? Two things: 1.) Insane. 2.) Inflatable.
Specifically, the idea is to give anyone 8 or older (and at least 42 inches tall) a chance to let their inner child run free through an obstacle course of extreme inflatables: oversized slides, tunnels, tire courses -- you get the idea.
The earlier you register, the cheaper the fee.
Sign up by Friday (Jan. 16), and it's $49 per participant.
After that, the prices edge up:
By Feb. 20 -- $52
By April 3 -- $54
By May 8 -- $59
By May 15 -- $64
Day-of-event signups are $75 -- or $100 for an all-access pass.
Organizers plan nine race "waves," which will take off every 30 minutes between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. An all-access pass lets participants take part in all the waves they want, space permitting.
Spectators get in free.
Registration includes a T-shirt, a custom medal and runner's bib, and access to the "Insane Midway."
Sign up as an individual, or put together a team -- it's also a fun way to raise money for good causes.
The event is at the Benton County Fairgrounds, 1500 S. Oak St., in Kennewick.
