Dave’s Diary: We Grow the Wine Grapes and the Hangover Cure
Just in time for asparagus season in the Yakima Valley! So perhaps you are still celebrating from the great apple season and perhaps you awake one day with a bit of a hangover…not that you would…but if you do….steam up some asparagus.
According to a Journal of Food Science report, it’s chock-full of special amino acids that mop up aldehydes – the main culprits in having hangover. For faster relief, blend with water and drink as a juice. For the “hair of the dog” types might I suggest a pickled spear in a cold Bloody Mary! Cheers! (Marie Claire Magazine April 2013)
