Clean Water Act Challenged, New Conservation Program Announced
- Florida Representative Steve Southerland has proposed the Waters of the United States Regulatory Overreach Protect Act which would halt any action of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers regarding the proposed definition of waters of the United States.
National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President Bob McCan says EPA continues to claim their proposal does not expand the reach of the Clean Water Act, but the way the proposal is written there is no other interpretation.
- Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Oregon Director of Agriculture Katy Coba and local conservation leaders held a press conference on the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) following a roundtable with local conservation organizations.
Announced in May as part of the 2014 Farm Bill, RCPP marks a new era in conservation in America, going beyond traditional government projects and providing businesses, non-profits, universities, and federal, state and local governments’ opportunities to partner with agricultural and conservation groups to invest in innovative conservation projects.
