Yakima police don’t have to endure the slings and arrows of that complicate the lives their big city urban brothers and sisters in blue so they don’t have to question the fallout every time they roll out on a call.  But Washington’s D.C.’s finest had a pretty good day last Friday.   D.C. police were called to the Capitol steps to break up a protest and there, peering out from within the crowd of Democracy Spring protestors, decked out in Bernie Sanders paraphernalia, was the lovely celebrity face of actress Rosario Dawson.  Dawson was among dozens of protestors arrested on Capitol Hill Friday after a week of pro-democracy demonstrations. The police reportedly gave her multiple warnings before making the arrest and apparently handled themselves to her satisfaction with tact and professionalism.  Dawson reported to the UK Guardian, “The police were really great with us, really lovely. I have to say that is not the case for so many people: Dreamers, Black Lives Matters activists, so many people are not seeing this kind of courageousness ... I hope that officers across the nation can take heed of that and recognize that the peaceful protests that are going around the nation should also be treated in the same way as we are being treated today."  Good job officers.

Dawson was briefly detained for processing by police in Washington D.C. and will be required to pay a $50 fine, but she won't have to appear in court.  More than 800 people have been arrested for sit-ins on the steps of Congress during five days of protest dubbed Democracy Spring. www.theguardian.com.
