The city of Yakima has been named an All America City for 2015! A 23-member team from The Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce competed in Denver over the weekend and on Sunday, Yakima was given the title by The National Civic League.

"It just shows the community works together," said Joe Mann, chair of the All America City Committee. "It shows the community is a step above others."

In 2014 the city was among 25 finalist cities hoping to gain the title. Yakima last earned the title of All America City back in 1994. Today the title is back in the city of Yakima.

Since 1949, The National Civic League has recognized and celebrated the best in American civic innovation with the prestigious All-America City Award. The award, bestowed yearly on 10 communities each year, recognizes trail-blazing efforts to bring residents, local government, business and nonprofit groups together to tackle the most pressing local issues.
