Operators of the new bus service between Yakima and Ellensburg said it's going better than expected. Riders bought more than a thousand tickets during the first month of service. That's around $4,000 in sales. Yakima Transit expects more business this month from sales for monthly passes.

"It's helped me because I save a lot of money on gas where I would spend $13 or more a day driving down. Now I only have to spend $6," said Christina Cordero.

The bus makes eight trips a day during the week.
