The Yakima Police Department has started an online police reporting system. Spokesman Mike Bastinelli says it's a free system in which you can file reports, get a copy and a case number. "Incidents like property damage, lost property theft. Crimes where there's no suspect information and maybe you want a report for your insurance purposes."
Bastinelli says you'll find the system at yakimapolice.org and click on the services tab and then click on online incident reporting. He says the new system will save a lot of time. Before the system was in place a person would call police and then wait for an officer to take a report or a person could fill out a report at the police department. Now with the new system low priority crime reports can be filled out online freeing up more officers to handle more serious calls for service.
