Yakima Police detectives are busy trying to solve six different homicides reported last year and this year.

Spokesman Mike Bastinelli says seven homicides were reported in 2015 and eight murders have been reported so far this year. "All but two have been solved," he said. "So six have been solved, two unsolved from 2016."

In 2015, seven homicides were reported and four remain open with detectives searching for clues and suspects. But a majority of the unsolved homicides have some kind of a gang tie and in those cases Bastenelli says police find little if no cooperation from people in helping to solve the crime.
