Yakima Police Detectives Investigating Murder on North Eighth Street

Yakima Police are investigating the killing of a male in his 20s who was shot to death late Friday night.

According to a release issued early Saturday (April 30), the victim was shot on the 300 block of North Eighth Street, near D Street. He has not been publicly identified yet.

Residents reported hearing gunshots just before midnight, and when officers arrived they found the victim lying on the sidewalk. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Yakima Police detectives have taken over the case.

The killing occurred just hours before a community group organized a "Stop the Violence" rally in Miller Park, about five few blocks away.
