Six finalists for the Police Chief position will be in Yakima this week. Yakima spokesperson Randy Beehler says some of the candidates live here, while others are coming from out of town. Beehler would not release their names or say how many are currently on the Yakima Police force. The city is expected to release the names later today.

The finalists will be in Yakima from Thursday through Monday and will meet with city leaders.

Interim City Manager Michael Morales will meet with each candidate on Monday for a final interview.

The Police Chief position has been open for more than a year now. There's no timetable for a hiring decision.
