Yakima Police say they've arrested a suspect after a series of incidents involving the use of what are called caltrops, mutli-pointed spikes thrown out on the roads of Yakima flattening tires.

YAKIMA DRIVERS HAVE BEEN SUFFERING SINCE 2021

Officers say the spikes have been causing damage since 2021 with West Chestnut Avenue in west Yakima being the latest area where the spikes were found. Yakima Police have been looking for a person responsible for years and most recently they were able to find a person in the area that had been purchasing items that matched the caltrops.

A SUSPECT IS UNDER ARREST AFTER A WARRANT WAS SERVED

On Tuesday Homeland Security Investigations Yakima served a search warrant at a home in the 6600 block of W Chestnut Avenue. A press release says "a subject was placed under arrest for malicious mischief and evidence was found at the location during the course of the search warrant."
