Yakima Police are investigating the cities latest homicide. Officers were called to the 900 block of South 29th Avenue at about 10:42 p.m. Wednesday after getting reports of a victim in the area who had been shot. Authorities say they received a 911 call from an 18-year-old man, Jonathan Hildago who told them he had killed his stepfather. When officers arrived at the home they found a 45-year-old man dead in the home's living room. Police say he had been shot once in the head.
Detectives from the Yakima Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division say the 18-year-old Hildago thought his stepfather was molesting a young child in the home before the shooting. But police say an investigation into the allegations found no evidence that the child was being molested.
Hildago is being held in the Yakima County jail awaiting an appearance in front of a judge in Yakima County Superior Court. The 18-year-old is facing a charge of 2nd degree murder.
An autopsy on the victim is expected soon as the investigation continues Today.

Whenever a homicide is reported in Yakima, officers who first arrive first secure the scene and make any arrests. The Yakima Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division is then called to begin an investigation that sometimes can take days, weeks even months. However in cases like this in which an arrest was made the investigation centers on supporting the evidence that's was initially found at the scene.
