Time For a New Home in Yakima? Homes Sales Rising Like The Temps
It's spring and a lot of people are looking for new homes in Yakima and that means increases in home sales and home prices.
THE MEDIAN HOME SALES PRICE IN YAKIMA SO FAR IS UP FROM LAST YEAR
According to Cory Bemis owner of Yakima's John L. Scott Real Estate the current median home sales price in Yakima is $335,000 representing a 1.5% increase from this same time last year when the price was $329,970. As spring began in March 138 homes were sold in the month which was less than a 1% decrease from the 139 homes that sold in March of 2023.
SPRING IS A POPULAR TIME FOR HOME SALES
Bemis says the spring real estate market has arrived in Yakima. Bemis says the first quarter of the year saw an increase in the number of homes sold when compared to last year, and also a slight increase in the median home sales price as well. He says "even with interest rates hovering around 7% for the past 2 months, we have still experienced a typical Spring Market in Yakima with more new listings and more accepted offers (pending sales). Look for the busy Spring Market to continue for at least the next two months as the weather continues to warm up."
A LOT OF HOMES HAVE ALREADY SOLD IN THIS EARLY SPRING
All total 330 homes have sold this year a 10% increase over the same time in 2023.
30-year fixed rate mortgages are averaging a 7.29% interest as of April 10th according to MortgageNewsDaily.com. This is 0.44% higher than 1 month ago (6.85%), and 0.79% higher than 1 year ago (6.50%).
