The Yakima Fire Department responded to a report of a person in the river Tuesday night.

Just before 8pm, Yakima Fire Department got a call about a person reportedly driving a jet ski and losing control due mechanical problems and the rapid current in river.

When fire crews arrived, firefighters found that Yakima Police Department and a couple of civilians had found the jet ski and had it secured on the bank.

Witnesses reported that the rider had climbed out of the river and waved to them and left the area.

Yakima Fire Department Water rescue team retrieved the jet ski using the rescue boat to tow it to an area that was accessible to a tow truck.

There were no injuries.
