THE FIRST FATAL CRASH
Authorities believe Ward was intoxicated at the time of the crash, which marked the first fatal collision in Yakima this year. Ward is currently held in the Yakima County jail on charges of vehicular homicide.
DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT DRINKING AND DRIVING
The Yakima Police Department issued a statement emphasizing the dangers of drinking and driving, describing the crash as a "stark reminder" of the risks associated with impaired driving.
TRAFFIC PATROLS CONTINUE
In recent months, Yakima police have intensified traffic patrols targeting speeders and intoxicated drivers. In March alone, 60 drivers were arrested for DUI, and patrols continue into April, though specific arrest numbers for this month are not yet available.
Authorities continue to urge drivers not to drink and drive.
