Yakima City Manager Candidates face The Music

The search for a new Yakima City Manager continues in high gear.  The council interviewed four finalists Thursday. Each very different from the other, but all presented themselves well. They had a pretty good handle on what Yakima is about and all felt ready to take on the challenges.

Questions zeroed in on fighting gangs, economic development, personal management style, past success, budgeting, and more.  The hour for each flew quickly by but we did get a good general sense of each candidate.

Friday we are scheduled for one-on-one time and I expect we will get a better sense of style and approach in the less formal setting.

Based on what we have seen, heard, and read so far, Yakima should be well served by someone from this applicant pool if they take the job, and If they stick around. Stay tuned.
