The Yakima City Council Tuesday voted 4-2 to overturn the city ban on retail marijuana sales. Council members Avina Gutierrez, Dulce Gutierrez and Holly Cousens and Kathy Coffey voted in favor of the measure while Bill Lover and Maureen Adkison voted no. Carmen Mendez was not at the meeting Tuesday. The city has directed legal staff to begin to draw up the legal documents to make the change. The resolution is expected to be back in front of the city council on February 16.
The council Tuesday also accepted a plan from the Yakima Southwest Rotary Club to fund and build a new basketball court at Yakima's Randall park.
