People will be able to officially cruise Yakima Avenue in 2020 if the Yakima City Council approves an ordinance on Tuesday.

Earlier this month the Yakima City Council voted unanimously to direct city staff to rework the current cruising ordinance that will allow cruising on the second Saturday in June, July, August and September, and the third Saturday in June and September from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The council is expected to approve the ordinance at its next council meeting set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 1 at Yakima City Hall.
Earlier this year council members talked to local car clubs about the cruise nights and requirements needed before deciding to vote on the issue.

Just prior to Tuesday’s regular meeting, the Yakima City Council will hold a special meeting at 4:00 p.m. to interview interim city manager applicants. The special meeting to interview interim city manager applicants will air live on Y-PAC and be streamed live at yakimawa.gov.
A news release from the city says the two candidates that will be interviewed Tuesday were selected from a pool of 17 applicants. They are;
