Yakima Air Terminal Closed in August for Planned Improvements
If you plan on doing some traveling later this year and you want to fly into or out of the Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field you need to know the airport will be closed for planned improvements. Work on the main runway will happen from 8:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, through 8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29.
A news release says scheduled improvements include replacing runway edge lights, asphalt maintenance and updating runway markings to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) current standards.
The $1.4 million project is funded through the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program.
The late August timeline was selected in avoid the busy fall and holiday travel seasons.
