7 Yakima Stores That We Hated to See Close Forever in 2025
Fair warning to residents of Yakima: This one hurts a little to read.
It was shocking to see some of our favorite retailers and restaurants close up shop permanently. Fortunately, in a couple of cases, there were other locations of those stores to go to, but in most instances, we lost some great retail shopping treasures.
We still miss these beloved stores that closed permanently here in Yakima. RIP! Pour one out for the homies, as the kids say!
7 Beloved Yakima Stores That Permanently Closed in 2025
Jo-Ann's: Permanently Closed
Which closure broke your heart the most? For me, it was JoAnn's. It was a place that gave me the tools I needed to express my creativity, and that's something that can't be replaced, even if there are a couple of other places in town that I can find similar items. I mean, come on, they had some really good coupons in the APP, y'all!
Baskin Robbins: Permanently Closed
The Baskin Robbins on Nob Hill closed this year and I admit, I was kinda mad about it. It was the only one with a drive-thru location, and anyone who knows me well knows that sometimes I hate going inside a store. I'm all about the convenience, and that location had it!
Burger Ranch
One of the two Burger Ranch locations in Yakima is gone forever. Now in its place is a new sushi restaurant. We definitely didn't see this one coming. The nearest Burger Ranch is on Summitview Ave, plus there's one in Selah and in Sunnyside, so that's some comfort.
Taco Time: Permanently Closed
Talk about an abrupt closure! The three Taco Time locations in Yakima closed suddenly and left us (and employees) stunned!

Two Starbucks Locations in Yakima: Permanently Closed
We had heard rumblings of Starbucks locations closing throughout the country, but never did we expect some of the newest Yakima locations to permanently close!
Forever 21: Permanently Closed
Who saw this one coming? Certainly not me! Forever 21 was one of the few places my teenage daughter like to shop for clothes! (Now she prefers Hot Topic.) I still walk by their old space in the Valley Mall and shake my head in sadness and disbelief that it's really gone!
Rite Aid: Permanently Closed
It was quite a shock to hear that Rite-Aid stores were closing across the country. I used to stop in at the one near my house at least twice a month, sometimes more! At least one Rite-Aid location was salvaged and became replaced to become the only CVS store in the region.
I'm scared to think of who might be closing up shop permanently in 2026!
