West Valley High School's Ally Fay just wanted to give kids who are suffering through traumatic events something to hang onto -- so she collected stuffed animals for local children and submitted her work as a school project.
The sophomore wound up with 550 squeezable animals to give to kids who need a hug.
Ally delivered the donated toys to local police Thursday (May 19).
She collected enough to help out police in Yakima, Selah, Union Gap and Tieton.
Some of the stuffed animals will ride with patrol officers -- just in case they're needed at an emergency.
